A residency in the Department of Urology at Ohio State is a challenging and rewarding experience that entails a complex interaction of learning through patient care. It requires maintenance of a balance between the educational and clinical responsibilities as well as dedication to learning and personal excellence.
Urology residents are selected by a competitive process and are chosen through the match program administered by the American Urological Association's Office of Education. All applications are internally reviewed to selectively invite candidates for the interview process.
At the conclusion of the interview process, faculty members meet to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the candidates, and the rank order is submitted to the AUA Office of Education. Candidates must be registered with the AUA Residency Match.

Achal Modi, MD, Class of 2011:
When medical students ask me why they should come to The Ohio State University for their urology residency, I tell them it’s because the theme here is to be the best.
Each year, we grew larger and stronger as a department. During my time, we added five new faculty members who delivered high-quality patient care while simultaneously pushing our residents to think critically during clinic and in the OR.
Not only were we trained to be great surgeons and clinicians, but we had the opportunity to add to the field of knowledge in urology.
I left feeling exceptionally trained as a surgeon and clinician.
