Professor of Urology
Robert Bahnson led the Ohio State Urology Division and Department as Director and Chairman from 1996-2014. He has been the President of the Ohio Urologic Society, the Society of University Urologists, and the Society for Urologic Chairpersons and Program Directors. He served on the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education's residency review committee for urology from 2001-2007, and as Vice Chair from 2005-2007.
He was a Trustee of the American Board of Urology from 2008-2014 and the Vice President in 2014. He has held numerous positions of leadership in the American College of Surgeons and was the First Vice-President in 2012. Dr. Bahnson was the Chief of Staff of the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research institute from 2011 until 2013. He is a member of both the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons and the Clinical Society of Genitourinary Surgeons. His research has been funded by the American Foundation for Urologic Disease, the American Cancer Society, and the National Institutes of Health. He is currently the Dave Longaberger Chair and Professor of Urology.
His activities include experiential teaching, and research in the molecular imaging of urologic cancers.
