One family is celebrating Christmas a little early this year after a life saving surgery.

Diane Hoffer says she always knew this day would come. Her daughter was born with a genetic kidney disorder and born with only one kidney.

In June doctor's told Diane's daughter, Megan she needed a new kidney to live.

"We've been blessed that she made it almost 29 years, " Hoffer said.

Family members were tested hoping to be able to donate their kidney, but no one was a match.

It was Megan's husband, not a biological family member that become the perfect donor.

"We've just waited for this 29 years. And we're so thankful Jake loves her as much as we all do. He's giving us our miracle, our Christmas miracle, " said Hoffer.

Hoffer says the transplant surgery which was performed at Ohio State Wexner Medical Center was a success and that Megan and Jake are fine, both recovering and expected out of the hospital soon.

She says she's sharing their kidney donation story in hopes that others will consider giving the gift of life.

"Give that gift to someone who needs it, " she said. "Don't wait until you're gone. Give them the chance to live as well."
