COLUMBUS, Ohio – More than 750 attendees will gather for the ninth annual Buckeye Transplant Reunion Sunday (8/24) from noon – 2 p.m. in the Ohio Union’s Archie M. Griffin Grand Ballroom, located at 1739 N. High St., to honor former transplant patients, organ donors and living kidney donors.

Reporters and videographers are invited to cover the event.

Featured speakers at this year’s event include Dr. Michael V. Drake, president of The Ohio State University; Dr. Robert Higgins, director of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Comprehensive Transplant Center; Laura Stillion, director of transplant services at Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center; Dmitri Gaston, a kidney recipient and an urban planner at Ohio State; Javaune (“Dr. J”) Adams-Gaston, vice president for student life at Ohio State; Kent Holloway, chief executive officer at Lifeline of Ohio; and Mike and Sue Murphy, Donate Life ambassadors and donor parents.

Lifeline of Ohio’s Honey Bee will also make an appearance.

Ohio State’s Comprehensive Transplant Center, the area’s only adult transplant center and one of the country’s largest transplant programs, has performed more than 7,700 lifesaving transplants in almost 50 years, including heart, lung, kidney, liver, kidney-pancreas and pancreas transplants. Each year, more than 250 patients receive the gift of life – a transplant at OSU Medical Center.
