COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University has appointed a new chief financial officer for the Wexner Medical Center. Mark Larmore, a seasoned healthcare financial executive, will manage and oversee the Wexner Medical Center’s $2.9 billion budget. Subject to approval by the Board of Trustees, his appointment will be effective Oct. 1.
Larmore joins the medical center with a strong background in healthcare finance, most recently as CFO, group senior vice president and treasurer of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. In that role, he provided ultimate financial oversight to hospital operations as well as strategic leadership and direction to multiple areas of business.
NewYork-Presbyterian is the nation's largest not-for-profit, non-sectarian hospital, with 2,409 beds and approximately 2 million inpatient and outpatient visits per year, covering all areas of medicine at six major centers.
Larmore spent over 25 years at NewYork-Presbyterian, beginning as director of finance in 1989. He was promoted in 1994 to vice president of finance, became senior vice president of finance and assistant treasurer in 2007 and was named senior group vice president and CFO in 2011.
“We are fortunate to attract Mark Larmore to Ohio and to the Wexner Medical Center,” said Sheldon Retchin, executive vice president of health sciences and CEO of the Wexner Medical Center. “He is the right person to oversee the financial matters for the Wexner Medical Center. As the center continues to expand in size and reputation, it requires a dedicated CFO with a broad range of experiences and successes. Mark brings that combination of leadership and expertise that will help propel us forward.”
As CFO of the Wexner Medical Center, Larmore will be responsible for strategic financial planning for the medical center, including the Ohio State University hospitals and clinics, the College of Medicine, the Faculty Group Practice, and all affiliated programs.
He will report to Retchin and Geoff Chatas, senior vice president for business and finance and CFO of the university.
Larmore earned a B.S. in accounting and finance at the State University of New York at Oswego and is a certified public accountant.
