Take years off your appearance with a facelift

The doctors at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center have skills in reconstructive surgery not typically considered cosmetic, which makes them qualified beyond accepted standards, to take years off your appearance with a facelift. Our experts teach others how to perform plastic surgery and are conducting the latest research and techniques, like radio frequency skin-tightening.

Reverse the effects of aging

Over time, facial skin can lose elasticity and start to show signs of aging. Our facelifts are designed to:

  • Reverse the effects of aging
  • Smooth out even the deepest wrinkles and creases
  • Make facial features appear refreshed and youthful

We conduct various facelift techniques, from full facial rejuvenation to skin renewal for specific facial areas. Patients in their 40s through 60s and beyond find our procedures to be especially beneficial.

During a private consultation, we’ll plan an approach individualized for you. If you want results that look natural and beautiful, contact us to schedule a facelift or consultation today. Your privacy and comfort are of the utmost importance to us and will always be a top priority.

What to expect

What to expect

Your surgeon isn’t only there for you during treatment. He or she is with you every step of the way – before, during and after.

Preparing for your treatment

Our plastic surgeons will meet with you to answer all your questions regarding full facelift or skin renewal for specific areas of the face. Together, you’ll determine the best treatment plan and design it specifically for your needs.

During your treatment

Traditional facelifts involve making incisions above the hairline at the temples, which extend to the front side of the ear or to the back of the earlobe. The skin is lifted and separated from underlying muscles. The muscles are then tightened and excess skin is removed. The remaining skin is smoothed out for a less wrinkled, more youthful appearance.

The doctors at Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center see to it that incisions are very discreet and residual scarring is as undetectable as possible – often virtually invisible. Facelifts are performed under a general anesthetic and most are completed in two to three hours on an outpatient basis, reducing surgical stress and recovery time for you.

After your treatment

Some bruising and swelling is expected after a facelift, and facial bandages will be applied for a few days. Any pain or discomfort can be minimized with medication. You’ll need to keep your head elevated for the first few days after a facelift. Most patients are able to resume normal daily routines after about 10 days, but strenuous activities should be avoided for at least two weeks after treatment. Remarkable results from your facelift should be fully apparent within a few weeks.
