Dr. Danforth is a professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. His research is centered on developing innovative strategies to enhance medical education. His laboratory is focused on the creation of virtual learning environments, including the development of virtual patients. The goal is to teach medical students communication and clinical decision-making skills and to assess their progress. Dr. Danforth is also building virtual reality programs to train first responders on how to triage mass casualty incidents.
His research is funded by the National Board of Medical Examiners, the Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, The Ohio Department of Medicaid, The National Science Foundation, and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in the Department of Defense.
