MelucciJoseph Melucci, RPh, MBA, CPPS, has served as the Medication Safety Officer since 2016 and is responsible for the evaluation of medication use safety across the enterprise.  He is passionate about facilitating a Just Culture of safety and supporting second victims of medication errors when following up on medication events and leading committees.  He is the preceptor for the medications safety rotation for several residency programs at OSUWMC and leads a medication safety internship for two interns.

In addition to becoming a Certified Professional of Patient Safety in 2017, he obtained the certification for Just Culture Champions offered by Outcome Engenuity.  He completed a fellowship in the AHA/NPSF Patient Safety Leadership program in 2014.  Joseph collaborates with other medications safety professionals on the ASHP Medication Safety Section Advisory Group.  Expertise as a Six Sigma Blackbelt, certified Epic Willow analyst and former director of pharmacy helps with the identification and improvement of broken processes.  Joseph obtained his M.B.A and B.S. in Pharmacy from The Ohio State University.  Current and future interests include automated safety surveillance and taking lessoned learned with culture development in the Pharmacy Department to the rest of the organization.
