About Me
I am a surgical oncologist who specializes in treating patients with breast cancer and other breast-related disease. I was named to the Castle Connolly list of “Regional Top Doctors” from 2011-2019.
My research interests primarily focus on radio-guided surgery technologies and the role of surgical oncology and imaging in cancer surgery and cancer care. I have developed strategies for perioperative and intraoperative tumor detection and imaging. I have also developed tumor-directed surgical and non-surgical therapeutic interventions using molecular targeting agents. I strongly believe in adopting these technologies within the context of a multidisciplinary approach to treat patients with cancer. Many studies have shown that adopting these approaches, as we have done at The Ohio State University, can lead to better outcomes for patients.
I have presented and published extensively within several arenas of surgical oncology, such as sentinel lymph node mapping and biopsy technology, minimally invasive breast biopsy technology, perioperative and intraoperative detection, and imaging technology, among other areas.
I am the co-editor/co-author of a 2016 Springer Nature book representing a comprehensive overview on the state-of-the-art practice of numerous radio-guided surgical applications within all surgical subspecialties. I have served on the editorial boards of many scientific journals, as well as serving as the section editor for the Surgical Oncology, Cancer Imaging and Interventional Therapeutics section of the journal BMC Cancer from 2012 to 2017. Additionally, I was awarded the 2015 Section Editor of the Year Award and have served as a consulting editor for BMC Cancer since 2017.

Good experience!
Dr. Povoski was very thorough and made me feel comfortable.
Again, I can't say enough great things about the James staff and the staff at the Stephanie Spelman Breast Center, amazing people.
Family was with me and their questions and concerns were addressed as well
I wait for an appointment to see the doctor. The PAs and NPs are nice enough, but I want to see a doctor.
Dr. Povoski has always made me feel comfortable since my very first appointment in 2011.He fully takes time to listen to my concerns, explains and answers all my questions.I feel absolutely confident and comfortable under his care.I have entrusted other members of my family to him. He has put us all at ease.I am forever grateful for his willingness to be a major part of my care .Thank you, Dr. Povoski

The care provider, everyone, were/was very kind, helpful and professional. I can't compliment them enough.
Dr. Povoski is an excellent surgical oncologist. I trust him with my care.
We took notes on all my appts. that day & Dr. Povoski actually took over our note taking efforts. Now I know that 100% of the information about chemotherapy is accurate. Loved it!
Always impressed with excellent care given and question answered.
Dr. Povoski is a kind, compassionate, knowledgeable physician who instantly made me feel comforted by the care I received and his attention to my issues. Lindsey (NP) similarly provided me with an amazing level of care, with her knowledge, patience, and excellent bedside manner. I feel confident that I will receive the best cancer care possible from both of them.
I felt well-cared for by my provider at each appointment.
