The Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center is the first of its kind in the Midwest, offering a full continuum of breast cancer care — from prevention and screening through detection, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship — all in one world-class facility.
At the Center, our internationally renowned breast cancer experts focus on preventing, detecting, treating and yes, curing, breast cancer by working together across numerous medical disciplines (medical, surgical and radiation oncologists; radiologists; pharmacists; reconstructive surgeons; pathologists and more) to design the very best treatment plan and therapies to target your specific breast cancer.
Care also includes meeting with numerous specialists across all breast cancer disciplines, all on the same day, all in one location, with all of your questions answered at one time. From there, these experts work with you to create a comprehensive, individualized treatment plan that is designed solely for you, considering your specific kind of breast cancer as well as your unique biological makeup, genetics and individual medical history.
Our name honors Stefanie Spielman: a wife, mother, advocate and alumna of The Ohio State University. Her breast cancer diagnosis inspired her to become a passionate advocate to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. Stefanie’s legacy and her inspiring quest to help find a cure for breast cancer come to life in our innovative, world-class facility.

Ohio State offers a myriad of breast cancer clinical trials. We are devoting significant clinical and research efforts to:
- Treating triple-negative breast cancer, an aggressive subtype with higher risk of recurrence and death than other subtypes
- Addressing resistance in advanced breast cancers that have failed standard hormone therapy
- Personalizing treatments based on the genetic alterations reported from tumor or liquid biopsies
- Improving outcomes in patients with brain and leptomeningeal metastases from breast cancer
- Enhancing survivorship care and symptom management in a growing population of breast cancer survivors
- Raising breast cancer awareness and developing novel risk-reduction strategies for high-risk individuals

The Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center is also accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). A coalition of professional organizations, the NAPBC works to provide the most efficient and contemporary breast care using scientific evidence about what works best for patients. The NAPBC monitors compliance to its standards at each accredited breast center. The NAPBC Board is composed of leadership from many medical disciplines and upholds nationally recognized quality performance measures for breast cancer treatment. It is administered by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), which for more than 100 years has led national and international initiatives to improve quality in hospitals.
