Our department is currently home to 76 faculty members, four fellows and 27 residents, however, we continue to grow annually. Our family medicine practices are part of Comprehensive Primary Care Plus through the Center for Medicare and Medicaid which offers extensive opportunities for research and scholarship. We offer two fellowship programs in clinical informatics and sports medicine and will be providing an integrative medicine fellowship in the near future. Family Medicine/Geriatrics Faculty

The Department of Family Medicine at The Ohio State University seeks an experienced family physician that is fellowship trained and has a CAQ in geriatrics to function primarily in the Ohio State Family Medicine Residency Program, which will include responsibility for the joint administration of a Geriatric Fellowship Program with the Department of General Internal Medicine/Geriatrics.

The successful candidate will demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching, research and scholarship, and service. Appointment level is open and can be in one of three appointment tracks, as appropriate to the successful candidate’s professional experiences and career aspirations: regular tenure, regular clinical, or associated clinical. 

Basic Qualifications:

Family Medicine Physicians

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking part-time and full-time, board-certified/eligible family medicine physicians to join our team. 

We have two residency program sites with faulty who cover inpatient service at University Hospital East; prenatal and maternity care including delivery as well as geriatrics services. Our faculty is involved in medical student education through practicum lectures and rotations through the clinics.  

Our family medicine practices are part of Comprehensive Primary Care Plus through the Center for Medicare and Medicaid and are also PCMH level 3 recognized. Additionally, our family medicine practices are staffed with dieticians, behavioral health specialists, social workers, pharmacists, medical assistants, and nurses as part of the team.  Opportunities range from 100% outpatient to a variety or responsibilities depending on experience.

Family Medicine Vice Chair for Research

The Department of Family Medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine is searching for a senior tenure track faculty member with outstanding leadership and administrative skills, creativity, and resourcefulness to serve as the vice chair for research. The vice chair will report directly to the chair of Family Medicine and will be responsible for scholarly and research programs in the department by working with faculty, fellows, residents, advanced practice providers and students. 

Across primary care and in collaboration with others across the medical center, the vice chair is responsible for:
  • Developing scholarly and research programs to increase the national reputation of the department
  • Engaging and inspiring clinicians through mentorship and coaching
  • Expanding the department’s investigative research and extramural funding portfolios
  • Overseeing the department’s research programs and resources
  • Serving as a member of the department’s executive committee
Successful applicants will possess an MD/DO and/or PhD as well as the qualifications to be appointed as associate professor or professor on a tenure track. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated track record of conducting independent, investigative research, publishing in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals, writing competitive grants and in garnering extramural funding. Preference will be given to candidates possessing an active, portable portfolio of extramural funding with areas of focus in practice transformation, primary care clinical outcomes or addiction/opioid research.
