Education and Training
Dr. Darmafall earned her medical degree from Wayne State University in Michigan. She completed two residencies, one in general surgery and one in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Minnesota. She went on to complete her fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Wisconsin.
Clinical background and interests: Dr. Darmafall has served as a team physician for high school, Division I collegiate and USA Hockey-sanctioned league-level sports with the University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota and the Minnesota Magicians. She has proficiency in the prevention and care of musculoskeletal injuries and medical conditions encountered in a wide range of sports.
Research interests: Her past research projects have included work in hip, arm and hand injuries and biosynthetic materials for implants. She has a special interest in trauma to the knee, with current research projects including anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction in young female athletes and return to sports after ACL repair or return to work after medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) surgery.
