The Division of General and Gastrointestinal Surgery is committed to excellence in education, training, research and clinical care. We offer advanced surgical options for gastroesophageal reflux disease, endoluminal and minimally invasive surgery, bariatric surgery, surgical endoscopy and the treatment of malignant diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

We continue to make contributions to surgery in the fields of gastroesophageal reflux disease, endoluminal and minimally invasive surgery, bariatric surgery, surgical endoscopy, and the treatment of malignant disease of the gastrointestinal tract, including pancreatic, esophageal and gastric cancer.

Hepatobiliary Disease and Disorders

The hepatobiliary system involves the liver as well as the gallbladder, bile ducts and bile. Causes of hepatobiliary disease may include viral, bacterial and parasitic infections, alcohol consumption, poor nutrition, metabolic disorders and cardiac failure, resulting in hepatitis, cirrhosis, bile duct stones, liver tumors, cholangioarcinoma, hepaticadenoma and other conditions.

Single incision surgery is used to surgically treat the:

Solid Organ Surgery

Solid organ surgery is used to surgically address:

  • Adrenalectomy
  • Liver resection
