Vital members of the health care team
Advanced practice providers (APPs) are vital members of the health care team at Ohio State, ensuring that our patients receive consistent, quality care across the continuum, from our community-based offices and ambulatory care centers to our nationally recognized hospitals.
At Ohio State, physician assistants and advanced practice registered nurses have access to unparalleled educational, research and career growth opportunities that only a leading academic health care system can offer. In addition, our APPs lead and participate in research efforts that contribute to innovations in health care. Our APPs practice within a welcoming and supportive network of leaders and peers who collectively make Ohio State the world-class health system it is.
More than 900 APPs provide specialized expertise throughout Ohio State’s ever-expanding network of hospitals, ambulatory care centers and community-based offices. Advanced practice providers at Ohio State are CNPs, PAs, CNMs, CNSs and CRNAs. These professionals are part of a close-knit network guided by a strong and open leadership structure and collaborative councils. Regularly scheduled conferences, grand rounds and other forums ensure that APPs regularly share best practices and support one another.
Advanced practice providers are physician assistants and advanced practice registered nurses who have master’s and in some cases doctorate level degrees and are licensed to practice by the state of Ohio. They work within their scope of training to diagnose, treat and manage medical conditions, prescribe medications, conduct procedures and assist in surgery.
