The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is excited for you to deliver your Buckeye Baby in our new University Hospital, opening in February 2026. Among the building’s many impressive features are floors 22, 23 and 24 –– the top three floors –– dedicated to maternity care, the jewel of the building with world-class accommodations and breathtaking views.

Every detail of our new University Hospital was strategically planned to create collaborations that improve care and create the very best possible experience for patients and staff alike. Amenities include:
Elevated patient-centered care
Each of our 820 patient rooms is fully private, with plenty of space for family members, high-tech patient entertainment systems and telehealth technologies.
Abundant healing light
Natural light has been shown to be a big component of healing, so we’ve added 9-foot windows to our patient rooms that let in abundant sunshine to improve recovery and wellness.
Thoughtful considerations
Laboring parents will have express elevator service to the new state-of-the-art maternity floor. And we’ve planned for companion care restrooms and employee lactation rooms throughout the hospital.
Reflective spaces
We’ve created a conservatory space with views out to terrace greenery and a sanctuary for reflection and multi-faith worship.
Increased capacity
Our rapidly growing central Ohio region is expected to reach 3 million people by 2050. This new University Hospital will ensure we’re able to provide the care our expanding community will need.
Quiet care
We’ve designed our clinical staff workspaces into the inner core of each patient floor, ensuring patient hallways have less noise and movement while still giving our staff rapid access to attend to patient needs.
Innovation
From smart beds to digital signs outside patient rooms, our new University Hospital will be filled with the latest technology focusing on patient wellness and outcomes.
Prepared for anything.
Many aspects of this new hospital allow clinical staff to shift quickly to the current needs of patient communities. Floor 10, for example, is designed for Medical ICU patients and can be converted to support airborne infection isolation in the event of major public health outbreaks.
