Jeana Piper, CST, felt a new calling from the operating room while she was working as lead ophthalmology technician for the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.

Helping patients during their post-operation visits, she’d seen how pleased they were with the outcomes of their surgeries. She wanted to be part of that process, so she went back to school to pursue a surgical technology career.

Now, as a lead surgical technologist, Jeana guides her team with compassion and empathy, creating a positive environment in the OR.

Jeana understands quality patient care is at the forefront of the health system’s mission and appreciates the ability to be hands-on in the treatment of patients in the OR.

“I enjoy being able to be a part of a life-changing moment for our patients – whether it be in a plastic surgery transformation or an eye repair surgery, seeing their quality of life improve is inspiring,” she says.

It’s easy to see Jeana’s dedication and leadership as she navigates the operating room, quickly setting up her station to ensure she’s ready for whatever’s needed. Her cheerful nature inspires her team members to perform at their highest abilities.

“I enjoy helping people, not only helping our patients achieve the best outcomes possible but also sharing the knowledge I have with my co-workers,” she says.
