ANCC Magnet Recognition
We’re proud to be the first health system in central Ohio to have a hospital achieve Magnet Recognition, one of the highest honors awarded for nursing excellence. Greenhealth National Award for Environmental Sustainability

CHIME, the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, has named us to its 2024 CHIME HealthCare’s Most Wired program, at a level 9 ambulatory and acute recognized organization for our use of health IT resources to improve health and care in our community.

HIMSS Stage 7 Award
We’ve received the highest award from HIMSS Analytics, which tracks hospitals’ progress on the Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model. We’re the first in Ohio to achieve this advanced level, which allows us to provide more efficient, effective and better coordinated care to our patients.

Honored for Environmental Leadership
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is a recipient of the Melvin Creeley Environmental Leadership Award, part of the Ohio Hospital Association’s Energy & Sustainability Program, and a finalist of the OHA’s John Chapman Award. We also hold the Encouraging Environmental Excellence (E3) Achievement Award from the Ohio EPA. The National Cancer Institute has named Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center “exceptional” – its highest ranking. The OSUCCC – James is the only cancer program in the United States that features a NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center aligned with a nationally ranked academic medical center and a freestanding cancer hospital on the campus of one of the nation’s largest public universities.

Level 1 Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation
Ohio State has achieved Level 1 Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation – the gold standard – as designated by the American College of Emergency Physicians. This designation recognizes the excellent care we provide to our older adult patients. Our goals are to always improve patient outcomes, to ensure optimal transitions of care from the ED to other settings and to support geriatric-focused quality improvement. Being named a Level 1 facility is validation that we are achieving these goals.

Honored for Exemplary Care in Medical-Surgical Nursing
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is the first hospital in Ohio to have nursing units recognized by the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses with the PRISM Award. This designation provides special recognition of exceptional nursing practice, leadership and outcomes in hospital medical-surgical units.
