Michael V. Drake, MD

President, The Ohio State University 

Dr. Michael V. Drake became the 15th president of The Ohio State University on June 30, 2014, following three decades of service as a higher education leader with the University of California. From July 2005 – June 2014, Dr. Drake served as chancellor of the University of California, Irvine. He also served as a Distinguished Professor of Ophthalmology (School of Medicine) and Education (School of Education). Prior to UC Irvine, Dr. Drake served for five years as vice president for health affairs for the University of California system. Before that, he spent more than two decades on the faculty of the UC San Francisco School of Medicine, ultimately becoming senior associate dean. He has written scores of scholarly articles and chapters, and his fifth textbook was published in 2009.

Michael A. Caligiuri, MD

Chief Executive Officer, Ohio State’s James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute 

Dr. Michael A. Caligiuri is a nationally known cancer researcher whose laboratory focuses on natural killer cell biology, the Epstein-Barr virus, lymphoma and leukemia. He is a professor of Internal Medicine and of Molecular Virology, Immunology and Medical Genetics. Dr. Caligiuri has designed and conducted many clinical studies for leukemia and lymphoma patients. He has authored or co-authored more than 400 publications, abstracts and review articles on immunology or leukemia. He came to Ohio State in 1997 from Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, N.Y.

Dr. E. Christopher Ellison holds the Robert M. Zollinger Endowed Chair of Surgery at Ohio State and is the former chief of staff of the medical center and chair of the Department of Surgery. He has authored more than 100 scientific publications and is a frequent lecturer at medical centers and scientific meetings throughout the world. He has served as vice president of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons and on the editorial board of the American Journal of Surgery. Dr. Ellison maintains a busy clinical practice in pancreatic and billiary surgery. He is co-­author of the book The Coming Shortage of Surgeons

Anne Garcia is Senior Associate Vice President for Health Sciences at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. An experienced healthcare lawyer, Garcia comes to Ohio State from Saint Louis University, where she worked for six years and most recently served as senior associate general counsel and executive director of Compliance. There, she gained experience and knowledge in risk management, insurance purchasing, claims management, GME, physician compensation, HIPAA, physician billing, regulatory investigations, conflict of interest, open disclosure, hospital transactions, public and private partnerships, physician services agreements and internal investigations. Most recently, Garcia was one of the project leads who executed a significant healthcare transaction on behalf of Saint Louis University.

Mark Larmore is chief financial officer for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Larmore, a seasoned healthcare financial executive, manages and oversees the OSU Wexner Medical Center's $2.9 billion budget. Larmore has a strong background in healthcare finance. He was formerly CFO, group senior vice president and treasurer of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. In that role, he provided ultimate financial oversight to hospital operations as well as strategic leadership and direction to multiple areas of business.

As senior associate vice president and chief strategy officer for OSU Wexner Medical Center, Gail Marsh has led the development and execution of the medical centers strategic plan, which has taken the medical center from a $500 million enterprise to a $2 billion organization. While this has led to significant central Ohio job growth (10,000+) and economic impact, she believes her biggest accomplishments involve helping others, especially women, achieve their goals. She received a central Ohio Women of Achievement award in 2012.

Dr. Susan Moffatt-Bruce is a cardiothoracic surgeon and Chief Quality and Patient Safety Officer at Wexner Medical Center. Moffatt-Bruce's passion for quality and patient safety is evident by her training at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. She is also a Black Belt in Six Sigma. She recently completed her Masters of Business in Operational Excellence at the Fisher School of Business. In her role, she is responsible for data collection, analysis and process improvement for OSU's Health System. She has also led the implementation of the Safe Surgical Checklist, Crew Resource Management and standardizing processes that have led to significant reductions in hospital-related infections.

Mary Nash is the Chief Nursing Executive for The Ohio State University Health System, which comprises University Hospital, University Hospital East, OSU Harding Hospital, Ross Heart Hospital and Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital. She is responsible for the integration of professional practice, nursing budget management strategies, nursing research/outcomes management, patient safety, compliance, nursing leadership development and patient care delivery models. She also oversees the Customer Service department and is an assistant dean at the OSU College of Nursing. Nash has been in nursing for more than 38 years, 28 of which have been in executive positions.

M. Mamoon Syed is Associate Vice President for Human Resources for Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center. Syed provides strategic Human Resources support, with a sharp focus on recruiting, effectiveness and efficiency, and leading the multidisciplinary HR team. He works closely with the leadership team to advance the mission and vision of the medical center. He formerly served as vice president of Human Resources and Support Services for Rady Children’s Hospital and Health Center in San Diego where he led Human Resources and managed the Occupational Health, Environmental Services and Food Service functions of the organization. Prior to his time at Rady, he served as director of Education and Organizational Development for the Mercy Health System in Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. While in that position, his organization received the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

Dr. Andrew Thomas is associate professor of Clinical Internal Medicine at the College of Medicine and serves as the chief medical officer for Wexner Medical Center. Thomas is responsible and has authority for all patient care services and medical staff administration. Previously, Thomas served as medical director of University Hospital from 2010-2013, assistant medical director for University Hospital from 1999-2010 and assistant dean for Graduate Medical Education from 2001-2010. Thomas has been involved in OSU projects including the implementation of electronic health records, root cause analysis for safety events, patient satisfaction, clinical efficiency, simulation training, professionalism, and physician health.
