Chief Financial Officer, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center

Rich Silveria joined the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center as chief financial officer April 1, 2025. As CFO, Rich has responsibility for all financial functions, including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, revenue cycle, managed care and supply chain for the integrated Wexner Medical Center enterprise, including the Ohio State Health System, OSUCCC – James, the Ohio State College of Medicine and OSUP. He also oversees the data analytics and information technology functions and The Ohio State University Health Plan, and he plays a key role in closely collaborating with the University Office of Business and Finance in developing and implementing integrated financial processes.

Rich came to Ohio State from Cape Cod Healthcare, where he served as senior vice president and system CFO. There he developed robust business intelligence, as well as cash and debt management strategies to support the health system’s expansion and patient care objectives.

Before joining Cape Cod Healthcare, Rich worked as executive vice president and system CFO at the University of Chicago Medicine from 2017 to 2021. He rebuilt the academic medical center’s finance function, established a corporatewide risk management framework and maintained UChicago Medicine’s financial health throughout the pandemic.

Previously, Rich held senior leadership roles at other leading academic medical centers, including Boston Medical Center and Mass General Brigham. As senior vice president of finance and system CFO at Boston Medical Center, he successfully reversed eight years of operating losses within two years and established a path to sustainable financial health. At Mass General Brigham, he developed shared-service capabilities and supported the growth of the health system from a $4 billion, four-hospital system to a $10 billion, nine-hospital system.

Rich earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Massachusetts Lowell and a Master of Business Administration at Northeastern University.
