Tom Bentley is the chief information and digital transformation officer for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, responsible for health care information technology. Tom began his career with the medical center in 1994 as an analyst. In the 29 years since, he’s been instrumental in the development and implementation of the medical center’s electronic medical record system.

Tom has been involved in the opening of our many ambulatory and inpatient locations and the clinical applications deployed in each. He works closely with hospital and clinical leadership on planning, development, implementation and support tasks.

Prior to serving as CIO, he led the Health System Informatics team, responsible for patient care and administrative applications across our patient care, education and research mission. He’s also responsible for governance and strategic planning for IT.

A Fellow of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), Tom earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with a minor in computer and information science, and Master of Science in Health Informatics from The Ohio State University
