Senior Associate Vice President, Office of Legal Affairs
Matthew Albers, JD, became deputy general counsel and senior associate vice president for the Office of Legal Affairs in June 2021. He serves as key legal counsel for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and the academic health enterprise, and is a key member of the senior leadership teams for the Office of Legal Affairs and the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center.
As deputy counsel and senior associate vice president, Matthew provides enterprisewide legal guidance on issues related to the academic health enterprise, including business ventures, health care services, scientific research and discovery as well as medical education. He is responsible for leading all health care transactions, mergers, acquisitions, innovative deal structures and general business knowledge.
Most recently, Matthew was a partner at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP, leading mergers and acquisitions for the firm’s health care group. Prior to that, he served as in-house counsel for University Hospitals Health System in Cleveland.
Over the past 20 years, Matthew has been active in a number of professional organizations, including the American Health Law Association, Health Care Compliance Association, Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Law Alumni Association Board of Case Western Reserve School of Law. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from Case Western Reserve University.
