Sarah Sherer, MSHR, SPHR, became the senior associate vice president and chief human resources officer for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in January 2023. Prior to her arrival at Ohio State, she served as the chief human resources officer for University of Utah Health, Hospitals & Clinics, a top academic medical center located in Salt Lake City. In that role, she was responsible for leading all aspects of the organization’s HR efforts supporting over 14,000 team members. She received the HR Achievement award from Utah Business in 2021.
With more than 20 years of HR experience, Sarah takes a people-first approach, emphasizing inclusivity and supporting work/life initiatives. She is passionate about relationships, culture, innovation, and building foundations that foster belonging, growth, and the ability for team members to understand their own amazing impacts on the mission. Having spent most of her career in academic medicine, she feels strongly about connecting purpose and career.
Sarah earned a Master of Science degree in HR management from Southern New Hampshire University. A frequent presenter on HR-related topics, she also holds a Senior Professional in HR (SPHR) certification.
