Pfeifle named president and Wolf honorary fellow of National Academies of Practice 
Andrea Pfeifle EdD, associate vice chancellor for Interprofessional Practice and Education for The Ohio State University’s seven health sciences colleges and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, has been named president of the National Academies of Practice (NAP). Kay Wolf, PhD, senior vice provost for academic leadership at Ohio State University, was inducted as an honorary fellow in NAP’s Physical Therapy Academy. Founded in 1981, NAP advances interprofessional education, scholarship, research, practice and public policy to transform healthcare. 
 
Wang inducted into American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering College of Fellows
Lei Wang, PhD, professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, was inducted into the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering College of Fellows. The college is comprised of the top 2 percent of medical and biological engineers. Wang was honored for outstanding contributions to translational research on complex neuroimaging biomarkers for neuropsychiatric disorders and leadership in open science. 
 
Ohio State awarded $2.5 million grant to continue work in national pregnancy research network 
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has been awarded a seven-year, $2.5 million grant to continue work in a national research network focused on improving obstetric care, pregnancy health and outcomes for pregnant and lactating people and their babies. The grant is from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development’s Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network. Ohio State’s team, currently led by Maged Costantine, MD, director of the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, has been in the network for the past 32 years.
 
Bechtel named editor-in-chief of the Journal of Medical Regulation
Mark Bechtel, MD, professor and chair of the Department of Dermatology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, has been named the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Medical Regulation. Bechtel has served as president of the State Medical Board of Ohio and on the editorial boards of leading health care journals. He holds numerous awards, including two presidential citations from the American Academy of Dermatology and a distinguished service award from the Ohio Dermatological Association.
 
Ohio State receives grant to improve cardiac arrest resuscitation outside of hospital
The Society for Academic Emergency Medicine Foundation awarded The Ohio State University College of Medicine a $300,000 grant to study tools aimed at improving out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) resuscitation. Michelle Nassal, MD, PhD, assistant professor of Emergency Medicine, will explore the use of end-tidal carbon dioxide measurement in OHCA resuscitation. Nearly half a million Americans suffer from OHCA each year and only 7 – 10% survive to hospital discharge. To improve outcomes, researchers will look at noninvasive and measurable tools EMS providers can use to personalize resuscitation efforts.
