Our Performance Data
Whether it’s a medical emergency or a planned surgery, we want you to feel confident about receiving your care at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. That’s why we are dedicated to being transparent about our service record.
We continuously collect information about the quality of care our staff is providing and our patients’ experiences and share our outcomes regularly with external organizations and agencies. This allows you to clearly see where we are exceling and where we are working to improve. Through this benchmarking, we have been ranked nationally for quality, safety and service. See our rankings and awards.
One group that we share information with is the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). CMS compiles the data from thousands of hospitals across the nation into its Hospital Compare database. CMS evaluates hospitals in four main areas – outcome, patient experience, process and efficiency. See how Ohio State Wexner Medical Center performs in each area by clicking the boxes above.
Graphs and rankings can give you a good place to start your evaluation of a hospital, but it can’t tell you everything. For instance, academic medical centers like Ohio State often see the sickest patients and provide them with high-intensity care and cutting edge treatments – something that statistics can’t always capture. We suggest you ask friends, family and other medical professionals for their opinions as you make your health care choices.
