External Ptosis Repair

This patient had an inflammation of her tear gland which caused her right upper eyelid to droop. An oculoplastic surgeon at the Ohio State Department of Ophthalmology repaired her ptosis by making an incision through the natural fold in the eyelid and tightening the eyelid lifting muscle with sutures. This procedure is done on an outpatient basis and has a success rate of more than 90 percent.

Internal Ptosis Repair

This patient had drooping of the right upper eyelid after a surgical procedure done outside Ohio State. The ptosis was repaired through an internal approach (through the back of the eyelid) without any skin incisions.
