Greenhealth National Award for Environmental Sustainability
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center was awarded the Environmental Excellence Award from Practice Greenhealth for 2023. In addition to the overall award, we were selected as a Circles of Excellence winner for Sustainable Procurement, which put us in the top 10 of applicants for sustainable procurement policies and practices compared to applicants.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical has received a LGBTQ Health Care Equality Leader designation from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the educational arm of the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) civil rights organization.

We've received the highest award from HIMSS Analytics, which tracks hospitals' progress on the Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model. We're the first in Ohio to achieve this advanced level, which allows us to provide more efficient, effective and better coordinated care to our patients.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s East Hospital Emergency Department is the first ED in central Ohio to receive the Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award.

Level 1 Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation
Ohio State has achieved Level 1 Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation – the gold standard – as designated by the American College of Emergency Physicians. This designation recognizes the excellent care we provide to our older adult patients. Our goals are to always improve patient outcomes, to ensure optimal transitions of care from the ED to other settings and to support geriatric-focused quality improvement. Being named a Level 1 facility is validation that we are achieving these goals.
Honored for Exemplary Care in Medical-Surgical Nursing
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is the first hospital in Ohio to have nursing units recognized by the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses with the PRISM Award.
