Biography
As a neurologist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I treat patients hospitalized with acute neurologic conditions. I specialize in stroke, seizure, encephalitis, acute peripheral neuropathies, neuroimmunology disease, and any neurologic manifestations of drugs used to treat other diseases. My goal in the hospital is to help patients understand the complexities of why their neurologic systems may not be functioning well and take time to understand patient and family concerns and listen closely to their needs.
I chose to focus on inpatient neurology because having a sudden change in how your brain, spine, or nerves work can be very scary, and changes that land people in the hospital can be especially confusing and difficult to navigate. My role is to help patients navigate hospitalizations for an acute neurologic condition, and to help them get on a path to recovery and prevention.
I love teaching students and resident physicians, opening them up to the possibilities of telemedicine, and my research has focused on improving medical education for stroke care. I received two national education awards to study how high-fidelity stroke simulations impact performance in medical students and resident physicians. I also serve as a clinical assistant professor of Neurology in The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

Academics and research
I treat patients hospitalized with acute neurologic conditions, specializing in stroke, seizure, encephalitis, acute peripheral neuropathies, neuroimmunology disease, and any neurologic manifestations of drugs used to treat other diseases – such as chemotherapies.
Many of my research projects focus on the use of simulations in trainee education for acute neurologic emergencies. I also conduct research on telestroke networks and transfer rates, using large publicly available health care databases in collaboration with the Division of Health Services Research at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
I appreciate the commitment to innovation here in The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and the readily available resources that allow me to pursue highly complex research.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Dr. Zha has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
