About Me
I am an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in providing both operative and nonoperative care options to help patients recover from upper extremity issues. I treat acute and chronic hand and wrist injuries such as fractures and sprains, and I also regularly address conditions including carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome and tendonitis. In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I serve as vice chair of Clinical Operations for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery here at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
My patients can rely on me to carefully review all imaging, labs and nerve studies to ensure an accurate diagnosis. I then work collaboratively with each patient to implement a treatment that best aligns with their goals.
My role includes helping to train the next generation of physicians, orthopedic surgery residents, and hand and upper extremity surgeons. I also enjoy doing meaningful research about the upper extremity that helps hand surgeons more accurately diagnose and treat injuries, nerve compression and overuse injuries. I am a clinical associate professor at The Ohio State University College of Medicine as well as director of the Orthopedic Medical Student Clerkship.

Dr Speeckaert took the time to address another issue that I had that was not a part of my original appointment. I had cut the tip off of my finger and it was painful. She treated it with silver nitrate and it helped immensely!

The doctor listened to me when I was explaining my rare bone disease and the difficulty of finding possible fractures via a x-ray. She understood and ordered more technical x-rays that did show I had fractured 2 bones in my wrist. I was very happy with my experience and completely trust my doctor with my upcoming surgery

Dismissed my experiences with conflicting explanations (two symptoms occur in my hand simultaneously, one was brushed off as being from poor circulation while the other was brushed off as being from increased circulation, neither of which fit the circumstances under which the symptoms occur 90+% of the time). Did not listen to or meaningfully address my symptoms or concerns which have not gone away and have continued to dramatically impact my life in the time since my appointment.
