About Me
Every day as an otolaryngology surgeon I help people to feel better. I work in a highly specialized area of medicine that focuses on the face, head and neck area.
Through expert surgery, we can achieve a wide range of restorative solutions for patients. Whatever the procedure, I believe that all patients should get top-notch care. Ohio State allows me to deliver that caliber of care.
Our team of professionals has access to Ohio State's cutting-edge technology and state-of-the-art research and clinical facilities. Our bench-to-bedside approach allows our patients to receive the best targeted treatment, which leads to fewer side effects and better outcomes.
When I'm not working, I like to attend Ohio State football games or take in a good movie. I also like traveling and relaxing with my family. When I have time, I enjoy doing home improvement projects.

They could not have been any better!
Very good
Professional approach to my care, I felt very comfortable and confident with Dr Chio.
Answered all my questions
Took time to explain issues I didn't understand and was very kind and helpful
Very detailed analysis of my condition and available solutions
Dr Chio was wonderful I figuring out my block ear problem
Dr. Chio was great I couldn't have asked for a better doctor...
Was very good at his job and knew what he was doing.
Professional and reassuring
Good
Good. Very informative to my condition.
He seemed dismissive of my concerns. Showed me past CT, explained everything very well. My complaint of facial pain and swelling that I made the appointment for was dismissed as nothing; he pretty much said nothing he could do for me after looking inside my nose for less than 5 minutes. When I spoke, he would cut me off and speak overtop of me. By the end of the appointment I felt defeated and just agreed with anything he said because I knew it wouldn't matter my opinion or concerns.
Very thorough.
Excellent communication regarding condition and appropriate intervention.
Dr Chio was absolutely great!!! I had been to two other doctors and they didn't help me at all. One even said he never had seen a case like mine. Dr Chio read my notes carefully and then ask me more about my symptoms. Unlike the other two doctors I saw before, he then analyzed my situation and had answers and said he knew exactly what was going on with my ear problem within in 25 minutes! Dr Chio Is a great doctor In all ways!!!!!!!!!!!
Learned more at this visit than the last 4 months of seeing other Drs about my medical condition
Good
Friendly And very informative
Seemed really concerned.
Always explaining things. Answers any questions and after 4 years of coughing to the point of getting short of breath, he is the only one that has been able to dx and help me keeping under control
Good
He was so easy to talk with!!
Pleasant Thoughtful Informative
The doctor could not have been nicer and more informative and professional
The MD did not listen to anything I had to say, was very condescending and spent a total of 16 minutes in the room with me on a first time appointment. Very disappointing with OSU.
Fine
Very caring...an excellent Physician
Sharp, knowledgeable, confident.
I felt rushed and not taken too seriously. Wen trying to explain anything, Dr. Chiu looked like they were a little annoyed and impatient with me and any of my concerns. I think at one point he even gave me the hand gesture to come on with it, as I was struggling to find some words to describe my issues. He was also a bit abrasive in his general tone and speech when speaking to me. I was concerned for a growth that he barely felt then just said it was a lymph node. That's fine but when I voiced another concern, he was quick to have me get up, grab my things, then follow him out of the office to schedule another appointment. I wanted an ENT doctor and I think I was scheduled for the locaion that is an urgent care. They do nothing for me. I will not choose to ever see Dr. Chiu again and I will reccommend that other patients avoid his care as well.
He seemed kind of irritated I was there. He was abrupt and dismissive. I felt like my issue was of no real concern to him, thus was not worth his time. He mentioned a few things It might be; he didn't address next steps, If those possibilities had treatment, or what provider might be a better choice for follow up. I wanted to ask but it was clear I'd already taken too much of his time. His tag said he's an educator. I'm sure he's probably a brilliant ENT; he has the people skills of a porcupine. I'm assertive and I've worked in healthcare my whole career. I have a lot of patience and empathy for providers. But if I felt like I couldn't ask questions for clarity I shudder to think how that visit would feel to someone with no background.
My provider is amazing in all aspects of my medical care.
All good
All my experiences were good.
He was very factful about the Inspire treatment. He talked about the % of success rates. Very honest.
Informative, open to my thoughts
All good
Very professional not very friendly
My provider listen to me very carefully and answered my questions very thoroughly.
We picked this surgeon because he has an excellent reputation.
I think he did a great job.
Dr Chio is excellent, very caring
Good
He was excellent. He was attentive and an excellent listener. He was caring and reassuring. His focus was on the patient (me) and helping me with solid medical advice. Very pleased- a competent, caring and professional.
Finally attacked my nasal issues
He explained everything very well. He even drew a picture explaining all the various treatments and which were good or not good for me.
Very good
AMAZING!
He was very professional, and very personable. He went into great detail to explain the questions that I had asked.
He was very informative and polite.
Dr Chio was absolutely wonderful. He answered all of my questions and made me feel more calmn about the surgery.
Very caring. Made sure we understood everything that was going on.
He puts you at ease. He explains everything in a way you can understand. He is very knowledgable.
He offered a very honest assessment of the care I'd previously received over many years to treat my spasmodic dysphona. Additionally, he informed me of changes and advancements that had taken place since my initial diagnosis of the condition nearly 15 years ago. And he let me know that another physician within his practice group could render this improved treatment if I choose to proceed with it. I was most grateful.
Everything was ok
Explained everything in detail and answered all my questions so I could understand
Good but lacking in communicationI didn't know how much time to take off & had to scramble with documentation after the factI was told my swelling was normal but didn't know it could turn hard as a rock & my whole neck swell up - thought I was infected
Dr. Chio was great! He took time to explain in detail and answer questions. He showed understanding & compassion! Will not hesitate to use him again!
Excellent knowledge and very professional.
None - was all good!
Kind, honest, thorough easy to approach.
Knowledgeable
Did not address all health issues, just the audiologist report.
Care was not impacted during this visit
Did a great job! Would have loved more explanation of what he saw in my nose in more basic terms for me to understand
Dr Chip was willing to treat my problem the day of my initial visit, which required a procedure. I was sincerely appreciative of this.
Good
Kind professional, caring and helpful
Excellent demeanor & courteous & gave good advice.
Good.
They are setting up all appointments to help me get a heart
Quick and efficient. Not one for chit chat, which I personally didn't mind. Good explanations of everything and at a level that most people would understand. He didn't go into a lot of detail of what could be caused if there were deficiencies in the aspects of the blood work he was looking at, but I didn't ask, so that wasn't really on him. Having a background in the teaching of interns/residents, I appreciated how he worked with the family practice resident that was with him that day. Overall, it was a good experience.
Very Good.
He genuinely seemed concerned about everything.
He spent a lot of time answering all the questions I had.
Doctor Chio is brusque, but I am very confident in his abilities. I think he was somewhat taken aback that I had done some research into options prior to my arrival, but when he realized that I was more than willing to defer to his expertise, and very amenable to his suggestions, together we set a course for treatment, and I feel very confident in his approach. I appreciate the time he took to explain things to me!
Excellent staff.
Very pleasant
Good
Evening appt. - Seemed almost annoyed that Dr. Adunka referred me to him before my surgery.
Dr. Chio very good experience.
Doctor was articulate, patient and knowledgeable
Care provider was great, direct but in a good manor.
The doctor was very deliberate and clear about what could be done and the services that I could expect.
Dr. Chio showed the chart and explained the results of my hearing test very well. Then recommended a crossover hearing aid so I could hear sounds on my left side, even though that ear was dead. He was very friendly and conversational.
