About Me

As a hepatologist at Ohio State, I specialize in treating patients with hepatitis, liver cirrhosis and other liver diseases. I believe in providing my patients with comprehensive and individualized care. My patient care philosophy is centered on honesty and education. I make sure to provide my patients with honest opinions and plenty of education on their conditions and treatment options.

I enjoy helping patients to manage their conditions and any day-to-day issues that arise as a result. It’s incredibly rewarding to have the opportunity to develop long-term relationships with my patients.

My favorite part about working here at Ohio State is really patient care. I spend the majority of my time working with patients and it’s the area where I find the most enjoyment.

When I’m not working, I like to spend time with my family and enjoying the outdoors.

The care provided was the best I have ever experienced. Showed knowlege of my case, was concerned about possible side effects of others involved, took time to call me personally to discuss follow up.

Was knowledgeable about my condition.

Very good.

Reviewed on Dec 12, 2018

Dr. Hanje did not seem to know who I was or why I was even there. My cardiologist sent me to him through a referral and he had no prior knowledge of my medical history. I had to explain to him why I was there and who sent me. He did not seem too concerned about my concerns and told me he would have me do a liver test every six months like he does everyone else because that is the standard operating procedure. I seemed to be just another number. I never heard about my blood test results. I still haven't heard anything. I drove an hour and a half to be at this appointment and he spent less than 10 minutes in the room with me and that was it.
