About Me
I’m a neurologist with more than 11 years of experience. I have advanced training in the management of stroke patients. Unfortunately, there is a very high incidence of this debilitating disease in Ohio.
In acute ischemic stroke patients, rapid diagnosis and treatment can preserve millions of neurons and have a tremendous impact on the return to premorbid functional status, thereby saving the patient's life. I can decide whether to involve intravenous thrombolysis or mechanical thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke patients before even reaching the ER. In addition, I can manage patients with intracerebral hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage in the ER, ICU and on the floor.
I like to provide compassionate care to all my patients and treat them as if they are part of my family. I enjoy the friendly atmosphere at Ohio State because all of the doctors, nurses and staff support each other, which helps in the efficient management of patients.
In my free time, I enjoy watching television as well as reading newspapers and medical journals.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/01/2020, Dr. Safdar has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
