About Me

As a rheumatologist, the diseases I treat generally affect the whole patient. So when it comes to care, I like to use a patient-centered approach. I specialize in treating vasculitis, systemic lupus, erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and other reactive spondyloarthropathies, myositis and enteropathic arthritis, which is associated with inflammatory bowel disease.

Some of my research interests include improving clinical outcomes for vasculitis and lupus, shared decision making and patient-physician communication database research.

The best part about working at Ohio State is that every day is different. I’m able to teach many types of people, from patients to fellows, as well as conduct research to improve my patients’ health outcomes.

I have three children, two dogs and a general surgeon husband, so most of my free time is spent staying active, being around family and traveling.

Dr. didn't provide any recommendations for continuing to decrease pain - except when questioned - and then vaguely.

Dr. Meara was very kind, very precise and detailed in her questioning, and very driven to find the root cause of my condition. This was extremely meaningful to me, as other providers have been fairly rote in their examination and reffer me off to a different provider so far. Her empathy for me as her patient and drive to uncover the root cause of my symptoms is the reason I rate her so highly as a provider.

I came in with another dx that acutely aggravated my arthritis. She immediately evaluated it, ordered testing, called me at home in the evening with results and provided treatment. The care coordination couldn't have been better. I'm glad I got this survey so I could report this.

The doctor did not listen to what I said. Felt she did not know why I was to see her. Did not seem to talk to me but to my daughter and husband.

Dr. Meara really stepped up to take my care into her hands. She didn't mess around with discussing everything I've already been through which told me she understood my medical history.
