About Me
I am a laryngologist who specializes in treating swallowing and voice disorders that can occur in patients who have undergone treatment for cancer. Patients who come to see me had other health conditions, and after recovering from those, they have persistent issues with things like eating and communicating.
I am passionate about helping my patients with these problems using both surgical and medical methods in order to optimize their quality of life. I am also grateful to have the opportunity to further our knowledge about these issues, including how they happen, how we can treat them and how we can prevent them in the first place. Through my research, I hope to answer these questions and improve care for my patients. It is this aspect of The James that really drives me. Everyone is here to push the boundaries of what we are doing for our patients. From Pelotonia funding to the amazing tissue banks to the eager collaborators, The James is the perfect place to innovate.
In addition to my clinical and research work, I am an assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at The Ohio State University. I also serve on the medical advisory board of the National Foundation of Swallow Disorders and on multiple committees for the Dysphagia Research Society.
I love the collaborative attitude at The James. Everyone here is excited to do things a little better for our patients. Whether it’s providing better therapy, preventing side effects, discovering new medications or inventing new devices, my colleagues are all here to support, collaborate and cheer on the ways in which we are improving the lives of cancer patients. The care for our patients is seamless, research projects are fostered and facilitated, and everyone is happy to come to work every day.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
