About Me
I work in the field of palliative medicine, specializing in symptom management and end-of-life care. I believe in providing exceptional care to patients who are faced with serious, life-limiting illnesses.
I think it’s important for patients and their families to have an active role in their care. I enjoy helping my patients to explore their values, preferences and goals for their care. I strive to provide effective symptom management for patients throughout the course of their illness, as well as at the end of life.
My research interests include integrating palliative medicine into the care of patients with end-stage liver disease and other life-limiting illnesses.
I love working at a state institution and providing care to a wide variety of patients and their families. There’s a great sense of teamwork and community here at Ohio State.
When I’m not working I enjoy jogging, painting, hiking and exploring Columbus.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/29/2023, Dr. Waterman has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
