I often take care of patients with potentially devastating diseases, particularly brain aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations. These diseases can seem frightening.

This is why I do my best to give patients the information they need to make the best possible decisions about facing these problems. Often, there is no one "right answer." It is my responsibility to help patients review their options and come up the "best answer" for them.

The focus of my practice is on diseases of the blood vessels of the brain and spine. I chose this area because of the opportunity of a "win.” For example, if I can treat an unruptured brain aneurysm before it ruptures, I can take a patient from facing potential death or severe disability to being healthy. It is a privilege to have this kind of positive impact on a patient’s life.

Industry Relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

As of 08/27/2016, Dr. Powers has reported no financial relationships with medical device, research and/or drug companies.
