About Me
I practice obstetrics, specializing in maternal fetal medicine and high-risk pregnancies. Each patient is different, and therefore each pregnancy is different too. I treat patients with a wide variety of conditions that may affect or complicate a pregnancy. I have a particular interest in the ultrasound perspective of maternal fetal medicine, and really enjoy developing long-term relationships with my patients and helping them achieve healthy pregnancies. I believe in a team approach with my patients, developing a comprehensive care plan with the patient that works for their needs.
I originally came to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for residency because my family lives here in Columbus. However, I stayed on because I love getting to teach and inspire the next generation of physicians and being part of an institution that’s always at the forefront of medicine.
I’m active in Ob/Gyn-related efforts outside of Ohio State as well. I often participate in local and statewide committees, lectures and clinical skills conferences to help teach and collaborate with providers in the community.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love being outdoors and can often be found out for a run or playing with my son and 80 pound Labrador.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Abshier has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
