About Me

I am a physician assistant in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The James. I received my master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Baylor College of Medicine and have worked at The James since 2008, where I treat cancer patients requiring a surgical resection as part of their treatment plan.

Resection involves the removal of a tumor or body part and the reconstruction of the area containing the defect. Some defects cannot be closed primarily or might leave important sutures unprotected and need soft tissue coverage, and this promotes quicker healing so that the patient can undergo their next step in treatment, such as radiation. My job is to restore our patients to some sense of normalcy and help them get back to their families and daily routine.

I work primarily in the Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center, one of the few comprehensive breast cancer centers in the nation. We are able to see patients quickly, and once they are diagnosed, they typically visit with the multiple disciplines involved in their within 24 hours. Patients have the opportunity to have biopsy, imaging and radiation therapy all within the same building, and we also offer advanced types of reconstruction that may not be offered or available at other cancer facilities.

It’s very rewarding to be part of a team that’s dedicated to patient treatment and helping rebuild lives, and it’s what makes The James such a fantastic place to work.
