About Me
Dr. Petgrave (he/him/his) is a licensed clinical psychologist and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. He is passionate about helping patients learn strategies to navigate life’s challenges. His interests include racial trauma (also known as race-based traumatic stress), Black health, racial and ethnic identity, health equity, racism, and allyship behavior. His approach to therapy is influenced by anti-racist and intersectional frameworks that make space to explore topics such as racism (in all forms), racial healing, white supremacist culture, and oppression—topics often ignored by many therapists.
Dr. Petgrave also has expertise in acceptance and commitment therapy, brief interventions, and health behavior change. He also has interests in teaching, supervision, mentoring, and community engagement. In his free time, he enjoys reading and playing soccer. He also loves comedy, music, and playing the saxophone.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2022, Dr. Petgrave has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
