About Me
I completed my undergraduate training at the University of Notre Dame majoring in biology with a minor in anthropology. Initially, my scientific interests were in DNA and blood disorder research, but I didn't like being stuck in a research lab which prompted me to pursue medicine as a career. I completed my medical school training at The Ohio State University College of Medicine where I became interested in bedside physician performed ultrasound. I then completed my residency training at The Ohio State University and stayed as an attending at the Ohio State East Hospital.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Hughes has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
