About Me

As an ophthalmologist, I've been performing LASIK and refractive surgery for over 20 years. I was one of two surgeons to bring the first refractive surgery center to Columbus, Ohio. I have also been training surgeons in LASIK for over 15 years.

I provide my patients with personalized care. You'll always see me directly when you make an appointment at my office. My patients receive my cell phone number at the time of surgery, and can reach me any time they have a question. If a patient has a problem, I will always make time to see them.

The most rewarding part of my job is seeing my patients and taking care of them. It's wonderful when someone comes in the day following his or her procedure and is very happy and excited about the outcome. It's fulfilling to see those who were previously living with an eye problem doing better and experiencing a higher quality of life.

Working at Ohio State offers many opportunities to stay on the leading edge of eye care. I am currently involved in teaching and training, as well as research in the area of LASIK and refractive surgery.

Dr. Castellano knows my husband and me well. He is always interested in my eyesight, knows my mother's history of macular degeneration, always asks about our travel plans. He is efficient and provides excellent eye care.

The doctor was great as is his assistant Julie. If it wasn't for them, I would not consider getting treatment here.

The doctor was very much concerned about my eyes and also care with my personal being.

He explained all the results of my evaluations & my upcoming procedure in a way I could easily understand.

Dr Castillano was fantastic. He explained everything thoroughly and answered all my questions. I was very nervous for the procedure and he talked me through the entire thing. The doctor also called me on the evening of my procedure to make sure I was doing okay. It's a great feeling to know that your Doctor is skillful and caring also.

My provider was amazing! He listened to my concern, checked it out, assured me it wasn't serious, & informed me to contact him if my issue didn't resolve or get better in 1 week. He was also very kind, but most importantly to me he was reassuring.

He was excellent. I suffer with asthma and the doctor did not rush me out - I walk slowly and he was excellent. I appreciate him!
