About Me

I am a board-certified nurse practitioner specializing in primary care at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I treat acute illnesses and injuries, help patients manage chronic conditions, and I provide gynecological services and address mental health.

The opportunity to serve as a person’s care provider is one of the greatest privileges. I strive to forge a genuine connection with every person who comes to see me, and I empower them to take active roles in their health care as we work together on treatment plans that make the most sense for them.

My previous experiences have made me the primary care provider I am today. I’ve worked in health care since 2010, and I was inspired to become a nurse practitioner after working closely with an advanced practice provider during a medical mission trip to rural India. I’ve worked in a variety of settings including emergency care, forensic nursing and preventative medicine.

My scholarly work has focused on improving care for individuals living with a disability who have been victims of crime, and I have been involved with anti-human trafficking efforts. Collectively, I bring all this expertise into each patient encounter to give my patients a holistic and well-rounded care experience.

    Dr. Smith was SO lovely! It was my first time meeting her and she quickly put me at ease and made a plan to get some necessary follow-ups done. She listened closely to everything I said and didn't make me feel like we needed to rush through things. It was a great experience overall.

    I have seen many primary care doctors over the past 10 years and no one compares to CNP Smith. From day one, I was very impressed by the way she took her time and listened l to everything I said. She asked many questions to understand my situation and made a plan for future visits. She answered all of my questions without feeling rushed or just another number.

    Deanna is awesome, I found her based off of great reviews. She's is very responsive on Mychart and takes her time in my appointments, making me feel heard.
