About Me
I became a physician because I am passionate about using my skills to improve each patient’s quality of life. As a urologist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I specialize in outpatient urology. I regularly perform benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) procedures and treat conditions such as scrotal disorders, erectile dysfunction and kidney stones.
The well-being of a patient is always my first priority. My patients trust me to deliver a customized approach based on their particular medical issues and preferences. There are many treatment options available for urologic conditions, and the decision to proceed with a procedure or surgery should be tailored to each patient.?
After years in private practice, I chose to transition to an academic medical center because I was excited about the opportunity to advance medical students’ education in urology. Choosing The Ohio State University was easy. I was a student here myself and know the positive impact this institution has on both students and the community. I now serve as the clerkship director for the Department of Urology and I am committed to improving access to urology as a surgical subspecialty for students.
When I’m not working, I enjoy cheering on the Buckeyes! I also like hiking and running.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. He was extremely good. He explained what the procedure was showing on the live video screen. Afterwards he explained the results and offered me three ways to proceed, including the risks and benefits of each. He answered my questions thoughtfully and clearly.

I like Dr. Springer. He has been more informed than any doctor I have had.My concern is a urine analysis was done and I was told no treatment was necessary for an infection however a day later test was listed on my chart. It showed several abnormalities. I want to discuss this with Dr. Springer and I'm contacting him. I think he should have followed up with me.
I really like Dr Springer. He's my new urologist and this was a follow up to my cystoscopy. He did a very thorough exam and reassured me that I was ok. He took the time to the exam and results and further review my condition at this follow up.

Didn't spend much time with me and then told me he couldn't help me but provided no clear direction on how to proceed so he passed me off to another doctor in the office. That felt very frustrating and defeating considering I had waited months to get in and see him.

Dr Springer was great. This was a follow-up visit so he wanted to know how I was doing. He listened and asked questions. He even looked at the charting I had done commenting that it helped show the improvement.

Dr Springer and the resident were great in explaining all my treatment options and pros and cons of each. They took a great deal of time with my wife and I, listening to my concerns and educating me.
I thought he talked to me about all of my options and his opinions of those options and just talked to me like I was human being and not a computer no. Seeing him in another 6 months. Told my wife I had a good visit.

Dr Eric Springer has a calm and compassionate demeanor when dealing with his patient. I've been stressed about my condition as I did not know what the outcome of the various diagnostic procedures would be. Dr Springer's explanation of likely outcome described in a factual way but communicated with empathy alleviated my worries. He Is a natural teacher explaining what I was seeing on tv while doing the procedure.

Felt like the wind blew this guy in the room and right back out. Carried himself as though he was in a hurry and I did not feel important.
I believe the doctor was very busy that day, at least his demeanor showed that. I want to talk more about process the doctor is going to use to treat me but that didn't work here. Somewhat disappointed

I was scared about having this done. Dr Springer explained what he was doing, while he was doing it. Understood when something hurt and numbed it more. This doctor and his nurse was the best I've ever dealt with!!

I had changed urologists, so this was my first appointment with Dr. Springer. He listened very well, and he explained things very well. He also got back to me immediately when I wrote to him afterwards with some questions. His "bedside manner" is superb.

Dr. Springer is a great doctor, very professional but fun & personable.
Being the first time that I've seen him, it was a good experience for me. He listened to what I had to say, looked at my history and acted accordingly. I was scheduled for a CT scan for my issue, but it turned out I needed it way before the appointment. When I started urinating blood, they took my in very very quickly. Thanks to them for that. Now just waiting for the results.
