About Me
I chose to become a gastroenterologist because I am passionate about helping my patients improve their gut health and achieve a higher quality of life. As part of the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, I perform endoscopies and colonoscopies, and regularly see patients for conditions including pancreatitis, gallbladder diseases, Barrett’s esophagus, constipation, ulcers, and biliary tract and pancreatic cancers.
I believe in a patient-centered approach and always consider each person’s lifestyle, occupation and interests when designing a treatment plan. When patients come to see me, they can trust that I will listen to their concerns and thoroughly explain their options. I empower my patients to take an active role in their care and I utilize shared decision-making every step of the way.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Hawa has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
