Biography
As a nephrologist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I specialize in chronic kidney disease, the prevention of kidney stones and other areas of nephrology. For the past twenty years I have been providing compassionate kidney care to all my patients.
I believe in spending a significant amount of time with patients to explain their diseases. I make sure to fully educate them about their diagnosis and discuss the options that are available to them as far as treatment. I like to get my patients and their families involved in the patient care process. I find that a patient who is both informed and involved is a healthy patient.
I enjoy working here at Ohio State because it’s an institution that brings together unique expertise from all specialties, which leads to well-coordinated patient care.
When I’m not working I like to spend time enjoying the outdoors, relaxing with my family and traveling.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

He listens, he's informative, compassionate and he is interested in what I have experienced and report to him!8
He was very detailed and reviewed my medical history with me instead of just reading it
He was very good about meeting me where I was at in terms of my knowledge base- he could pick up on what level of explanation and education I needed and make information digestible for me
Dr. Shidahm is excellent. I've been seeing him for several years.
