About Me
As a family medicine physician at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I specialize in helping my patients achieve their overall health and wellness goals. I encourage lifestyle changes as a foundation of my care, emphasize preventive measures and collaborate with my colleagues to provide more specialized care when necessary.
I am passionate about the physician-patient relationship and including patients in the decision-making. My patients can trust that I will always listen to their concerns and work with them to devise individualized treatment plans that work best for them. Helping to improve access to affordable care is also among my top priorities.
I appreciate the commitment to research and education here at Ohio State, and I am proud to help train future physicians as well. My role includes serving as an assistant professor at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.
When I’m not working, I love spending time with family and friends and my dog, Esty. I enjoy exercising at CrossFit, trying new restaurants, reading and traveling. I also volunteer at the Columbus Free Clinic.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Heinz has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
I really have not had any bad experiences to date.
I was new to his practice and he was excellent.
Felt like he didn't really listen to my problems and brushed them off, even if it was nothing. He knows my medical history and I reiterated how concerning I was, he continued to brush off my concern. I have anxiety and some other health issues so I would appreciate eye contact to calm me down and explain in depth why it wasn't anything he was worried about. It felt like he was rushed but there was only one other patient in the office, and the nurses took their time to make me feel comfortable.
Excellent
Very professional. Very kind
All's well!
He always thinks I want pills. He doesn't listen when I ask why I feel like I do
Nice guy
Provider was thorough, listed to concerns, explained things in an understandable way, and responded with lab work results very quickly
Dr was prompt, and thorough.
Kind and considerate. Very knowledgeable. Focused on me as an individual
He was very good and very thorough.
My PCM is focused on my overall well being. From MSK to emotional to the long term impact of current prescriptions, he is guiding me to a better lifestyle (exercise, diet, physical therapy, getting off NSAIDs). Knows my medical record and history very well and uses it during the appointment to discuss changes in healthcare/lifestyle.
He's very thorough and understanding and explains treatment and alternatives so they're easy to understand.
He is so nice he takes time with you and appreciates my feedback
Dr. Heinz is a nice kid but he doesn't really listen. He asks a question and as I'm trying to answer it he up an interrupts me and asks me about something completely different. He also assumes things about me that are not true. For instance, I have struggled with extreme pain for over a year due to needing a spinal ablation. Getting the procedure approved and set up w/the spine doctor was taking so long that at times I just wanted to end it all. I sent him a message begging for help (such as possibly making a phone call to see what was taking so long). I NEVER mentioned getting an opioid. His response was that he didn't know what else he could do for me and basically accused me of doctor shopping and told me he doesn't give out opioids (which he has made a point of telling me multiple times). Frankly, I was offended because it comes across as a know it all and he needs a lesson in humility. Those of us who are in the twilight of our lives deserve more respect. I am now looking for a new GP.
He did not listen to me rather looks like he was in hurry. Without discussing just prescribed medication to me.
Didn't really have a positive feeling about him. Short, seemed in a bad mood, minimal personal relatability.
Very good
-on time -friendly, kind, and helpful -helped me exactly as I had hoped, fantastic
Excellent experience!
Dr. Heinz has always provided excellent service
Excellent. Straight, to the point, detailed, accurate, efficient
Excellent
I thought Dr. Heinz was thorough and found things I didn't know existed and recommended an immediate care plan. Also, he communicated after the visit via MyChart and was spot-on. Additionally, listened to me, followed up...
Very helpful full of knowledge and patient thanks a lot
Only issue was that I thought a complete physical was going to be conducted but was instead more a discussion about my general health and prescription needs.
Informative, through, showed concern. Dr. Heinz was more attentive and transparent than previous "care providers".
Good
He was good. We relate really well. He is very efficient but listens and asks questions all the way through and then we discuss next steps and confirm next steps. Referrals are made immediately. He also answers MyChart questions asap. No messing around or waiting. I like that.
Good
Dr. Heinz is simply great, he listens to me and answers my questions
Doctor don't care.
Concerned, to the point, and easy to understand.
He was very late, but apologized profusely and explained how and why that happened, which is fairly rare these days. I was simply establishing myself as a new patient because I did not like my previous PCP (from another system). We discussed everything I am currently dealing with, answered all questions I had, and spent a satisfactory amount of time with me. He seemed like a good listener and he was very thorough. I needed some bloodwork done for an ongoing issue, but he did order a couple of other tests that he did not mention to me, and which I only discovered later when I looked on MyChart. I have not yet done any of the blood tests, but will be doing so this week.
He is good as a start he have an overall check but not in details , maybe next visit will check what I may face with my age
Good.
