About Me

As a urologist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I specialize in treating patients with urologic injuries following trauma and cancer treatments like surgery or radiation. I also have a particular interest in treating adults who require urologic reconstruction due to congenital malformations. I commonly see patients for conditions including urethral stricture disease, devastated bladder outlets, adult-acquired buried penis, and radiation injury to the urinary tract. I am proud to have contributed to the American College of Surgeons’ national guidelines for treating urologic trauma, as well as to serve on the editorial board of the Journal of Urology.

I am passionate about doing everything I can to improve the lives of everyone who comes to see me. My patients can rely on me for personalized, compassionate care tailored to their individual needs and goals. I take the time patients need to be heard so we can come up with a plan that they are confident in.

In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I am active in research efforts. My work focuses on strategies to enhance treatment options and long-term outcomes for patients following severe skin infections and traumatic urologic injuries. I am also interested in trainees’ role in academic writing and scholarship in surgical education.

My experience in urologic academia has been career-defining. I had wonderful mentors who fostered my love for the academic and investigative process, and it is a privilege to carry those lessons forward as an assistant professor in the Department of Urology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Teaching residents and collaborating with others is easily the most fun part of my job and getting to do that while serving patients is deeply rewarding.

Met first with the Chief Resident who was very good in discussing my history and the need for my visit that day. Did a thorough job of asking questions and examining me prior to my regular doctor. Dr. Koch was equally attentive to my history and need for the visit. I have a lot of confidence in his ability.
