About Me

I have a special interest in the underlying aspects of psychiatric disorders. I believe that having a good understanding of factors that contribute to a disorder enables me to provide more effective treatment. I strive to provide comprehensive, personalized care to my patients in a safe and friendly environment.

My research focuses on the treatment of psychological, psychiatric and nervous disorders. One area of my research involves transcranial magnetic stimulation, which uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain to improve symptoms of depression.

Another research area involves electroconvulsive therapy, which uses electrical currents to cause changes in brain chemistry in an effort to reverse symptoms of some mental illnesses. I am passionate about this line of research because I believe that learning more about the neurologic, biologic and genetic aspects of psychiatric and behavioral disorders will lead to the development of safer, more effective treatments.

I am on the Best Doctors in America list, which ranks physicians in the top five percent in their field based on a peer review process. I am also proud to be on the Healthgrades Honor Roll. Healthgrades is a national ranking system that identifies excellence within a medical field.

Consulting and Related Relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Young has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
