About MeAs a family medicine physician, I have a special interest in preventative healthcare, chronic disease management, women’s health and mental health. I find joy in my work, as I’m able to provide all these types of care to my patients on a regular basis.
I believe that optimal health is reached by addressing a patient’s medical condition as well as his or her mental health and social situation. Ohio State is an institution that supports this through providing well rounded healthcare including psychology and psychiatry in addition to excellent care managers and social workers. It’s great being part of a medical center that provides high quality integrated care to its patients and allows me to train medical students and residents to do the same.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, exercising and traveling.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 12/20/2018, Dr. Westphal has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
