About Me
As a dermatologist, I specialize in psoriasis and complex medical dermatology. I am also the director of many clinical trials and lead our dermatology research fellowship. My passion for medicine is fueled through the pursuit and discovery of new treatments so that I may provide the best available options to successfully treat my patients.
I truly believe in providing my patients with the highest quality care and I am honored to be trusted to help care for them. It is fulfilling to be able to use my expertise to develop individualized care for people of all ages with various needs. I co-direct the dermatology-rheumatology psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis clinic and I also lead a complex medical dermatology clinic. I care for many autoimmune diseases including psoriasis, blistering disorders, hidradenitis, lichen planus, lupus, dermatomyositis, granuloma annulare and many others. Additionally, I also care for all general dermatology conditions (acne, skin checks, skin cancers, and rashes) in my general dermatology clinics.
I am also passionate about education and serve as the Vice Chair of Education in Dermatology as well as the Division Director of Medical Dermatology. I enjoy teaching and mentoring many medical students and residents each year.
One of the things I enjoy most about working here at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is the opportunity to work with physicians of all different specialties. Ohio State is very unique in that it allows me to combine educational aspects with my work and expanding progress as a physician.
I’m originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but I have found a new home here in Columbus and at Ohio State. In my free time I love spending time with my family as well as traveling, being outdoors, and reading.

Dr Kaffenberger is one of my all time favorite care providers. She's so thorough, explains everything in detail and in words that make sense to a person without a medical degree. Dr. Kaffenberger listened to my concerns and explained the relationship of the drug I was going to use to any health aspects.

My first time seeing Dr. Kaffenberger - on referral from my previous dermatologist who was leaving OSUWMC. He spoke highly of her and he was absolutely correct. I learned a lot from her in a short period of time about my condition and she listened carefully about recent health changes that could have been related to the medication she was going to refill for the year.
Dr. K is my new dermatologist, and this was my first appt with her. She had read my records, and we discussed transition from previous OSU derm provider to her. She did the annual whole-body skins scan, found & froze one spot on my cheek, and I have scheduled next appt for one year out. She also ordered an Xray for my hands, which both have enlarged knuckles on both sides.

This was the first time we met. Trying new medications for my condition. She was very nice, mindful of my concerns.
I was a NEW patient. I had been going to the same dermatologist (not OSU) for over 15 years and she retired. I decided to switch to OSU so my information could be on MyChart. A friend recommended Jessica and I thought she was WONDERFUL. She listed to all of my concerns no matter how small. I had to have a biopsy and she explained every step of the process. She even took time to explain facial sunscreen issues I had been having and gave me samples to try. I have already recommended her to a friend and will continue to do so. Glad I made the switch!
