About Me
I am a urologist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and serve as the medical director of the Urology Clinic at the Eye and Ear Institute. As a general urologist, I diagnose and treat patients with a variety of conditions. I specialize in treating men with voiding dysfunction disorders such as benign prostatic hyperplasia, overactive bladder, prostatitis and pelvic floor dysfunction, and I perform vasectomy procedures.
I am passionate about improving my patients’ lives and enhancing the quality of care. I strive to provide personalized care for every patient, and I work with them to create customized treatment plans based on their goals and priorities.
My research experience began as a cancer epidemiologist at the American Cancer Society. During that time, I developed a strong interest in identifying and addressing factors that contribute to cancer incidence and mortality, including tobacco use and racial disparities. This population-centric view in epidemiology inspired me to pursue a career as a clinician, where I could interact with patients and impact patient care and outcomes on an individual level. My current research work is focused on patient satisfaction, physician and hospital quality ratings, and the impact of smoking on surgical complications. My work has been featured in peer-reviewed publications such as the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), Journal of Urology, and Journal of the National Cancer Institute (JNCI).
When I’m not working, I love spending time with my family and playing golf. I also enjoy woodworking and traveling.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

Dr Delancey is a great Dr
Very skilled and friendly
For now, I don't have nothing bad that said.
I'm pleased that my care provider has set me up with therapy sessions. Something I have needed for a while now.
Dr. DeLancey was great. Explained the procedure and what would occur beforehand, explained what he was doing during the procedure and provided great information for aftercare.
Quite good
All good.
Good overall care by the entire staff, including people at the desks
Very Very good
First vist with this new doct Very good
He was thorough and answered all my questions.
Absolutely talented and professional; he was most respectful and knowledgeable. Nonetheless, I felt that he was somewhat rushed and maybe a bit aloof when discussing my concerns with me (although I concede that perhaps my perception was a bit colored by the NO2 that I received during the procedure. Don't misunderstand me, Provider was very respectful and professional; just seemed a bit rushed and reluctant to bridge from the professional to more "personalized" explanations.
The doctor was thorough in listening to concerns and questions which I had during the visit.
Very kind and knowledgeable
He listened to me and the history of my symptoms and we established a plan.
Excellent
Very good
There was a intern resident doctor who was very thorough and so was Dr Delancey.
Dr John is really amazing. Second time seeing him. He always takes a lot of time to answer questions and talk about my problems. He was running behind but was very apologetic about it, told him it wasn't a big deal and we all get busy. He always dresses slick and wears nice ties.
Extremely professional, excellent physician

He was respectful, helpful and unhurried, answering questions about the approach to my follow up specific urological issue.
El doctor es muy bueno atendi?ndome, se ve que sabe perfectamente de lo que se trata mi problema de salud,
The Doctor was very thorough!!
No complaints
My husband was told to contact his cardiologist about stopping his Eliquis to allow hematuria to clear. He did not say anything about consulting his stroke physician. He suffered a CVA 3 days after a cystoscopy which was diagnosed as possibly related to the Eliquis hold.
Dr Delancey is easy to talk with
Efficient yet took proper amount of time and care to evaluate, diagnose, and explain.
The doctor was very kind and thoughtful during my procedure. Once he started I knee I was in good hands to complete my procedure with no worries.

Very Satisfied
Dr. Delancey is someone whom I trust greatly.
The doctor was knowledgeable, friendly, and sensitive to my desire to have autonomy over my body.
Good - listened to what I had to say. Good discussion on options/way aheadNeeds work - for both doc and intern - not everyone is a medical professional. Need to do better at conveying information to non medically trained patients.
No bad experience -
Dr. Carr provided excellent service & even arranged for a follow up call to check on me & see if I had other questions. He referred me to dermatologist for further evaluation.
While I have visited D. Delancey only two times, I find him to be very personable, professional and spends the needed time with a patient to cover all questions.
Doctor seemed a bit uneasy with me being transgender which made the whole visit somewhat uncomfortable.
Very good overall. No complaints.
I had confidence that he knew what he was doing.
The doctor was thorough, professional, empathetic, and took time to listen to an entire list of my concerns and even additional background, taking quick yet very complete notes on everything I shared.
